New York, NY-November 12, 2009: Russell Simmons, Celebrity American Bald Eagle ‘Challenger,’ Supermodels Heidi Albertsen and Julie Henderson, Miss Tanzania, Kosovo and Albania, Justine and Russy Simmons were on hand Tuesday night to help raise funds for Life Project for Africa.
Working, life-size replicas of Batman’s Batmobile and the Green Hornet’s Black Beauty were placed on the red carpet and are currently being auctioned off at CharityBuzz.com to support the gala.
Funds raised will be used to support the NJIA Health Clinic in Tanzania.
“Life Project for Africa is vitally important in making those less fortunate more sustainable,” said Ms. Albertsen. “The NJIA health center serves Tanzanians with a contemporary level of care never seen in the area before.”
NJIA serves thousands of people, and will eventually help approximately 122,000. It provides modern healthcare in a region which would not otherwise have access to the services we take for granted in the United States.
Mr. Simmons said, “I’m pleased to have joined Heidi at this special event. I have always believed that hip hop has the power to transform the world and shed light on issues that one would normally not know about. I am so honored to be associated with the work of Life Project for Africa, an organization addressing poverty at its root cause in Africa.”
