Two Bald Eaglets have emerged from eggs in an incubator at the American Eagle Foundation’s United States Eagle Center at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN.
They were slipped into the nest of the non-releasable but well-known Bald Eagle pair ‘Liberty’ and ‘Justice,’ who will raise them as their own.
The pair’s own two eggs were found to be infertile.
When they’re six weeks old, the newbies will be placed into an artificial nesting tower overlooking Douglas Lake in Dandridge, TN and will be cared for by the Foundation staff with little human contact.
They reach full size at around 12 weeks old and will be released into the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
The young birds will be named at the time of their release, according to the non-profit conservation group that is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year.
