NEFL Name The Nestling
This year, American Eagle Foundation has given our dedicated team of volunteers at NEFL the honor of selecting their top 8 to 10 name choices. Due to a few ties, we are excited to present 11 names for your final vote.
We’re thrilled to announce a special opportunity for you to make an impact and have fun doing it!
Now, it’s your turn to help give NE32 and NE33 a name!
For a $5 donation, you can support the name you prefer. You may make additional $5 donations to further support that name.
Your participation in this special event isn’t just about picking a name, it directly supports our mission of conservation, education, and protection efforts at AEF NEFL. Each $5 donation represents support toward the naming of the eaglets.
This is a charitable fundraising campaign. No prizes, drawings, or rewards are associated with participation.
All donations directly support the operation of the NEFL Eagle Cam and related educational programming, including equipment, internet service, maintenance, and IT costs associated with maintaining the wildlife camera program.
The premise of the “Name NE32 & NE33” fundraiser is simple:
#1 – Eleven names have been selected by our NEFL volunteer team: Each name was thoughtfully chosen to highlight the hatching of NE32 & NE33!
#2 – For a donation of $5 per name, you can also give your favorite name an extra boost with additional donations. The two names receiving the most submissions will become the eaglets’ official names.
#3 – The final naming announcement will be made on 2-8-26 at 5pm est.
All submissions must be made by 12pm est on 2-8-26
The names selected are listed below along with the meaning for each name:
Eve – NE32 hatched on New Years Eve (day), so more appropriate for NE32. Although the name is overwhelmingly female, it is male in rare cases.
Aurora – Blessed, happy and represents hope, renewal and the start of a new day. Good for NE32 as NE32 hatched at the start of a new day, but fine for either. Means light and beauty and famously the name for the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis)
Star – Heavenly body. Patriotic since it is our country’s 250th anniversary on Jan 1, 2026 the day NE33 hatched, but appropriate for both
Miles –Represents a MILESTONE day, as it was the 250th anniversary of the United States the day NE33 hatched
Kai – Evokes feelings of strength, tranquility, and connection to nature
Banner – Symbolic of the flag for the 250th anniversary of America and as in our National Anthem
Garnet – Represents strength, passion, loyalty and a fresh start of the new Year. It is the birthstone for January (appropriate for NE33). Garnet’s spiritual meaning centers on love, passion, and energy, symbolizing commitment, vitality and devotion, while also offering protection, grounding and strength
Champ – Because we toasted him/her in with champagne, and we hope he/she will be a champ at fishing like Beau is!
Scout – Stands for the indomitable spirit in search of new horizons
Blaze – Signifies warmth and light, a striking contrast to winter’s chill. Perfect for a fiery little one who brings brightness and energy to the New Year
Raine – Abundant blessings meaning new life, new beginning
