[/av_textblock] [av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=” custom_class=”] In the Spring of 2013, a beautiful juvenile Bald Eagle was discovered in Tellico Plains, TN with a gunshot wound in one of her wings.

She was rescued by Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Officer Joe Pike and placed with the American Eagle Foundation for rehabilitation after initial treatement at the University of Tennessee Veterinary School.

On April 17, 2014, approximately one year later, she was released back into the wild where she had been found. AEF staff members Laura Sterbens, Michelle Baurer, and Julia Cecere assisted AEF President Al Cecere with the release.

In addition, TWRA officer, Joe Pike, who originally found the injured eagle, and about 50 students from the Vonore Middle School attended the release.

Officer Pike is hopeful that students can be better educated about wildlife and conservation through the efforts of groups such as the American Eagle Foundation.
