Bald Eagle Map
Every eagle icon on this map represents a rescued bald eagle who found a permanent home with American Eagle Foundation, home to the nation’s largest population of non-releasable or disabled bald eagles.
Our 40 non-releasable ambassador bald eagles came from communities across the country. Most suffered serious injuries such as collisions, gunshot wounds, or lead poisoning that made survival in the wild impossible. Wildlife rehabilitators and state and federal agencies entrusted them to our care so they could continue serving their species in a different way.
Today, these eagles are educators.
Through live programs, special events, and daily interactions, they help us teach about conservation, responsible hunting practices, habitat protection, and the ongoing challenges bald eagles still face.
While these eagles cannot return to the wild, they inspire thousands of people each year to help protect those who can.
Virtual Field Trip
Give your students a front row seat to meet a live bald eagle and many other birds of prey without leaving school.
Our Virtual Field Trips connect classrooms directly with American Eagle Foundation for an interactive, standards-aligned experience led by our staff. Students will learn about bald eagle biology, conservation success stories, current threats, and what they can do to help protect wildlife.
Each program includes:
-
A live virtual presentation featuring the ambassadors at our facility
-
Real time Q and A with students
-
Downloadable lesson plans and classroom activities
Perfect for science units, conservation studies, and special enrichment days, our virtual field trips are designed to be engaging, age appropriate, and easy for teachers to implement.
Schedule your Virtual Field Trip today and bring the power of a bald eagle directly to your students.
